ADO.NET Entity Framework Query Samples is a small Windows Forms program which contains several basic Entity SQL and LINQ to Entities queries against that NorthwindEF Entity Data Model (a modified version of Northwind).
Its goal is to help you learn the features of the different query languages available in the Entity Framework, and to let you visualize how the results and the translated store queries look like.
UPDATE: Visual Basic version of the sample is now available in the Downloads section.
The project supports querying multiple backends. Included are:
SQL Server 2000 using SqlClient
SQL Server 2005 using SqlClient
SQL Server 2008 using SqlClient
SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP1

I downloaded this sample and it will not run. The program conversion utility ran and did not convert the program properly. I thought the program had already been converted to VS2010 Beta 2 as it states above. Also, the Northwind EF database is not included in the download!

This is a Fantastic Sample! Regarding database issues. I created a database, did a build and ran the app and was not able to connect. This will get you running in 3 mins: 1) Read the readme.txt 2) Open SQL Server Management Studio and run the EFQuerySamples\DB\CreateNorthwindEFDB.sql script to create a database. 3) Open Server Explorer in VS2010, create a new connection to the new database, right click properties, copy the Connection String property. 4) Open App.Config, modify NorthwindEF (SQL Server 2008) connection string (make a copy first rename copy to orig_NorthwindEF (SQL Server 2008)...), then REPLACE connection string='xxxxxx' with connection string='[paste value from Server Explorer Connection String property]'. 5) Build and run no problem.
