This hotfix is a nightmare on Vista SP1 x86

Is it just me? Because I certainly don't see anybody complaining here about it.
This happened to me:
Had the problems described in the symptoms for this hotfix.
After loading the project, the user controls having problems were rendered ok.
One standard Hyperlink server control did not render (Object reference not set to an instance of an object).
One of the user controls is a derivation of GridView. It is called EmptyGridView and I did not code it. I just use it. It now renders OK, but whenever I try to edit the templates, the entire section of the page disappears from screen. I mean the GridView, the DIV containing the GridView, and even the asp:View that contains the DIV that contains the GridView. Source code is there, though, so no real harm to the page.
Runtime behaves properly, though.
