SP2 and have been directed to this page to install prerequisite hotfixes on the servers, and yet these hotfixes are all for Vista or Win7?! Judging by the comments, I'm not convinced I want to install these on my servers. Also, the description for this hotfix in the KB article says it is for Sharepoint, not Exchange. Typical MS...clear as mud. sesit wrote Mar 16 2011 at 11:28 AM Have just found an article from an Exchange Administrator that helps to make this a bit more clear. For Exchange 2010, you MUST install all of the listed hotfixes or the install won't complete. For Server 2008 SP2, use Vista hotfix. For Server 2008 R2, use Win 7 hotfix. And in Central Administration I have an issue pointing to this KB. I try to install Windows6.1-KB979917-x64 and the installer returns me "The update is not applicable to your computer". Now what? I have 2008 R2 Standard. 2 days ago, the health and monitoring warning about requiring an update was not present. I updated to SP1 earlier this morning. Now the warning has appeard. Downloading the windows 7 x64 msu shows me "This update is not applicable to your computer" - Does the MSU need to be extracted and tweaked, or a registry setting changed to bypass the check that causes this install error? Jaybone wrote Jan 11 at 4:57 PM Looks like the reason for "The update is not applicable to your computer" is that the hotfix is already included in 2008 R2 SP1.
