This sample consumes Windows(r) Azure(tm) Marketplace DataMarket OData (Data.gov CityCrime) and displays a summary of the crime data. Details for up to the first three records returned are displayed. WebCityCrime data binds a GridView and DetailsView controls to OData feeds from the DataMarket's U.S. Government City Crime dataset. The City Crime dataset has more information than is needed for each control so two custom classes are created that use a subset of the data. The CrimeSummary class captures all the data except ROWID. The City, State, Year, and Population fields are consumed intact. The numerous crime fields (Arson, Robbery, etc.) are summed into a TotalCrime field. The CrimeRate field is calculated by dividing TotalCrime by Population. Several operations are performed to truncate the value to three decimal places for readability. The CrimeDetails class consumes the crime fields (Arson, Robbery, etc.) but not the ROWID, City, or State. Year is consumed but in a private variable so it is not displayed in the DetailsView grid. Population is also consumed and displayed. Operation: 1. Enter any combination of U.S. city and/or state names. 2. A query against the dataset is performed and the results bound to the GridView. 3. Up to the three top rows of the GridView are queried with the CrimeDetails dataset displayed in up to three DetailsView control. If there are fewer than three records in the CrimeSumary then fewer than three detail reports are generated. Paging is not implemented. Purpose: The purpose of this demo is to demonstrate the C# code for: 1. Querying an OData feed (in USCityCrimes.cs). 2. Querying for a subset of the data using custom classes. 3. Setting the DataSource and Binding on a control. Prerequisites: 1. A Windows Live ID 2. A Windows Azure Marketplace DataMarket account. More info in the files - USCityCrime.cs and Default.aspx.cs
