Query Hash Statistics Collection Set vs. Query Statistics Collection Set

SQL Server 2008 includes a "Query Statistics" system collection set and a set of associated reports that are very similar to the collection set and analysis reports provided in this sample. The main difference between the Query Hash Statistics collection set and the Query Statistics collection set is that the Query Statistics system collection set does not take advantage of query fingerprints to more accurately identify your most expensive queries. If the Query Hash Statistics collection set described in this paper meets your needs, it is appropriate to use it in place of the Query Statistics system collection set; in most cases it should provide a superset of the system collection set's value.
