I am just trying to find out stuff about development for mobile, found that Windows Mobile, Symbian, and Java are the available options after searching on http://www.live.com . This Page with tabs are the best startup i have found. The Document Outlines to download SDK, then it gives link to video and source code, so that when i will be watching video, i will be able to pause it and have a look at the source code provided. This is really brilliant, never found such a fantastic page on microsoft site before. I am going to download the stuff , grab a tea, and then will study and will try to make best out of it. Hey Maarteen and team, thanks a lot for the brilliantest Page.

Thank you very much, vikrantkpr! I am glad you enjoyed the video. Over the upcoming months I will create more videos around developing applications for Windows Mobile Devices. Starting in two weeks or so I will show how to create a full blown Windows Mobile application that will run on different devices with different form factors, using 1 single code base. The application will be location aware, stores data in a SQL CE Database, calls out to a number of Web Services and can be your starting point to develop your own real world applications. I will record each and every step I take to develop this application and all source code will be available for everybody, for free! Just check out http://www.dotnetfordevices.com over the upcoming weeks / month to join me for this series. And of course everybody else is welcome to take a look at this application being developed.

I can't figure out how to install the SDK. I recently bought and installed VS 2008 Standard, and I've installed the two prerequisites. However the Mobile 6 SDK refresh indicates that Visual Studio 2005 SP1 or later is not installed. As suggested in the video, I'm attempting to install the SDK after installing VS 2008. The prerequisites for the SDK only mention VS 2005 with not a whisper of 2008, making me wonder about my investment...

Unfortunately, AFAIK you need VS2008 Pro, see this link: http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products/professional/default.mspx and compare it to the product info of VS2008 Standard. Hopefully you can either change the license or maybe trade it in for a VS2005 Standard license.

This video is unfortunatly more an introduction to VisualStudio than Windows Mobile application writing. I did learn some new things but mostly he talks about things all previous users of VisualStudio should know (Control properties, intellisense, doubleclicking a button in designer generetes code...)

Someone should clarify that you cannot develop Windows Mobile applications with the Express version of Visual Studio 2008. If there is a way to do this, I'd be grateful if you passed it on but from what I've seen, the Windows Mobile 6.0 SDK installs but does not show up anywhere in Visual Studio 2008 Express, however it does show up in my older Visual Studio 2005 full version.

Video is down.
I'll try to setup WM6 SDK today in a VM to see if I can make this work as I hope it should.
