This sample provides an implementation of a specific business scenario involving Excel. In this scenario, an employee of the fictitious Northwind company uses an Excel template to create copies of sales invoices for customers that have placed orders with the company.
The employee clicks a button on the Ribbon in Excel to generate a new sales order invoice based on an Excel template. The employee then uses data-bound controls on a custom task pane to choose the customer and the order number. The employee clicks a button on the custom task pane that populates cells in the sales order invoice.
This sample illustrates the following tasks:
• Integrating data with an Excel spreadsheet.
• Adding a custom task pane that contains data bound controls.
• Adding custom buttons to the Ribbon of an Excel application.
• Using a button on the Ribbon to show and hide a custom task pane.
• Using the Excel object model to populate cells in Excel.
This sample requires Excel 2007 and Visual Studio 2008.
